EU opens antidumping probe into Chinese, Turkish steel mesh

The European Commission initiated an antidumping investigation against imports of welded steel mesh from China and Turkey in a decree published June 3, Turkish Steel Exporters’ Association, CIB, said in an official statement late June 3, adding that Turkish steel exporters should pay attention to the processes of the probe.

Noting that the products under investigation are classified under HS codes 7314 20 90, 7314 31 00 and 7314 39 00, CIB said Turkish exporters which wish to participate in the investigation need to pay attention to specific time periods.

Submission of opinion on registration and opening of the investigation as an interested party should be made within 37 days from the date of publication, CIB said. Requests for a hearing should be submitted within 15 days of publication, and applications from exporters and importers who wish to participate in sampling should be submitted within seven days of publication.

Applications and opinions can be submitted through the EC’s TRON system, CIB added.

The EC’s dumping review period for the investigation is Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2025, while the damage review covers the period from Jan. 1, 2022, to the closure of the investigation.

The commission is expected to conclude the investigation within 14 months, with provisional measures on the agenda within seven to eight months, the association said.

“It is important for our companies, which closely follow the EU trade defense measures, to carefully monitor the process and participate in the relevant procedures in due time when necessary,” CIB noted.
